For three French veterans from the First World War, life in a nursing home has lost its savour.
If only they could dodge Sister Madeleine and embark on one last expedition into the outside world, or even that hill with the poplars in the distance. But Philippe keeps passing out, Henri relies on a walking-stick and Gustave wants to take a stone dog with them --- what could possibly go wrong?
Sibleyras’ gentle, autumnal comedy is a cross between Last Of The Summer Wine and Waiting For Godot, and it won the Olivier award for Best New Comedy in 2006.
